salaam,

i thought i would share this story. i am currently in a graduate seminar on
islamic law and we were covering the issues of qisas as the pertain to
injuries causing bodily harm. of course since this was taking place in
canada, the discussion centred around the recent hockey assualt where a
member of the vancouver team broke the neck of a player in the colorado
team. i am sure the scholars of old would have been impressed.

Salaams,

Itrath, what were some of the competing and overlapping ideas? Was there a
consenses?

While we're on this issue of Qisas, can anyone point me toward sources that
clarify the various textual sources that shed light on the issue of capital
punishment as practiced and prohibited amongst Muslims?

salaam,

consensus on whether todd bertuzi should be held liable? :-)

in class folks seemed finding modern analgous situations to the old
classifications. another example was modern litigation on medical
malpractice and how that would hypothetically would be argued by the various
schools.
